posing my robot

so here was the pose i made for my robot his enjoying himself a lil salute and what not

fully textured

so ive just completely fully textured the whole robot and all of its components im happy with the textures however still feel if i knew a bit more on how to texture i felt i could of done it more to how i had pictured it in my imagination , i know that after this project i will try and learn more on texturing as a personal goal for myself so i can be full satisfied with what ive completed.

belt texture

so for the belt i had to texture it as a normal leather belt but it had a metal plate that said the robots name as if it was its license plate so firstly i had to uv map it and take cut out the part of the model in the uv editor as a seperate bit.

with that done i then put it into photoshop where i mapped my textures on to it.

so once that was done it was then assigned on to the model belt and it was added with a bump map so it ended up looking like this

detailed model complete

so ive completed the overall model of my robot and now ive just got to texture it.

arms

so the same technique i did with the wheels i did for the arms also so it looked like rings go along the arm making it looking more mechanical rather than just one long cylinder for a arm.

wheels

so from the basic shape i did for the wheels i just used the insert edge loop tool and from that i selected certain faces and extruded these to create a sort of ridge effect into the tires making them look more detailed and look like real tires

overall basic model

so heres my over all basic model that ive completed and now i just have to add more details in the arms and wheels of the robot making it look better than this.

brain problems

so ive completed the overall body of the robot however my main problem is the brain , modelling the brain is harder due to the fact that it has wrinkles and all , so i looked at tutorials and all but was unable to find one that i could understand properly so i decided upon just using a polygon sphere and then from there changing the vertices and continually modelling it and then smoothing it and changing the vertices a bit more each time to get a better overall shape

so looking on it i modelled the brain very basically and from there ive decided that i will create the veins through the shader adding a bumb map into the texture , however i realised that because i left it late i could of instead learnt how to use displacement mapping onto the model to make it a better looking brain , i decided after this project thats one of the things i will now look at and so i can be better prepared when it comes to texturing things

into maya we go!!

so now ive just added my side and front concept into maya and will now being my modelling hopefully everything will work out and fine and should be cool

decided upon

so i looked at all my concepts and decided upon instead of doing the zoo keeper, i decided on this due to the fact that i noticed that most people all chose to do the gorilla and that everyone had the same ideas of what to do for their gorilla including myself , my realisation on this led me to make the zoo keeper now my zoo keeper will be a robot with the main idea is that its a brain in a jar and it will look very old and rusty.
